Lawson was born on October 22, 1934 in Cuthbert, GA to the late Mrs. Anne Lawson.  He was raised by his maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. Ellen Morgan. He departed this life's journey on March 8, 2011.He proclaimed his faith in Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Cuthbert, GA.He was educated in the Randolph County public school system. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the United States Armed Forces. Following an honorable discharge from the Armed Services, he relocated to New York City.Mr. Lawson was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Sandra A. Lawson and to this union two children were born, Michele A. Lawson and Harry Lawson, Jr.He was employed by the New York City Transit Authority as a bus operator for 20 years.After moving to New York City, he joined St. John's Baptist Church. He served as an usher and was ordained as a Deacon in 1988. In addition, he served faithfully as the church Sexton and was a devoted servant of St. John's Baptist Church.After he and his wife retired and moved to Georgia, he reunited with Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he continued his service as a Deacon.He was one of the founding members of the Cuthbert's Men's Club which has grown into the annual Cuthbert October Festival, which brings together more than 100 people.Everyone who met Harry loved him.  He loved his church, his family, and his friends. Golf was another passion of his and he enjoyed playing it with his friends whenever he could.Mr. Lawson is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lawson; one aunt, Mrs. Janie Brookins of Charlotte, NC; two children, Michele A. Lawson, of Bronx, NY and Harry (Tamara) Lawson, Jr. of Washington, DC; five grandchildren, Veronica, Dominick, Lamont, Asia-nee (ney) and James III; one godson, Ronald Morgan and a host of other relatives and close family friends.
