Ruby Lewis

Sister Ruby Lewis was born on March 30, 1933 to the late Troy and Mattie Johnson.  She was the sixth of nine children. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Phoebe Sumter Memorial Hospital in Americus, Georgia. At an early age she joined the Hopewell Baptist Church where she served for many years.  After the closing of Hopewell, she joined Trinity Chapel Church and was a faithful member until her health began to fail. On June 5, 1948, she was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Ira T. Lewis.   She leaves to cherish her precious memories eight children: Minnie Lindsey, Atlanta, Ga.; Felton and Maurice Lewis, Raymond Johnson, Ethel Jones, Frederick Johnson and Wanda Jones all of Cuthbert, Ga.; Ira (Jela) Jones of Dawson, Ga.; (14) grandchildren, (11) great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
