Toney Mitchell, of Duluth, Georgia, formerly of New Haven Connecticut, died peacefully in her sleep on December 8, 2014. Born April 4, 1944, in Cuthbert, Georgia, predeceased by her parents, Sylvester Sr. and Rosie Toney, she was also preceded in death by two sons Darryl and Darren Toney and four sisters and ten brothers; and special friend Bro. Earnest Richards. At an early age, Marian was baptized at Virgil Chapel Baptist Church in Cuthbert, Georgia. After relocating to New Haven, Connecticut, she joined Thomas Chapel Church of Christ where she was a faithful and dedicated member and served as a volunteer church secretary. Her service to the Lord also included membership on the Missionary Board, L.T. Thomas Chorale Ensemble, and the Church’s food pantry. She worked for and retired from the Connecticut Transit after 35 years of service. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters Felicia Swint Andrews and Alicia Toney Morton of Duluth, Georgia; Sons Reginald Toney of Duluth, Georgia, and Anthony (Joylette) Toney of Conyers, Georgia. She is also survived by several siblings: Irene Johnson (Alfred), Branford, Connecticut; Hubert Toney (Betty), Ft. Myers, Florida; Thelma House of Ft. Myers, Florida; Pearl Toney, Sarasota, Florida; Willie Toney (Goldie), New Haven Connecticut; Jenerva Threadcraft (Tommy), Albany, Georgia; and Mary Toney, Dawson, Georgia. Being a loving and caring grandmother, she leaves behind several Grandchildren; Lamont, Chaniqua, Christina, Antwanette, Reginald Jr., Felicia, Reggie Jr., Jocelyn, Micheal, Ebony, Megan, Brandon, Malcolm, Ashley, and Sydney. Two aunts: Lelia Toney of Cuthbert, Georgia and Lorraine Toney of Miami, Florida. Marian had sixteen great-grandchildren: Parris, Eiress, Deja, Karlton, Ashanti, Nassir, Janiya, Shaheim, Tyrell Jr., Jahleal, Christain, Chloe, Jayden, Shannon, Darryl, and Darren. Marian was very instrumental in the rearing of Tangela Horton and Nakia Johnson Massenburg, as well as, eleven of other Godchildren and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Included in her extended family are several very close and special members: Tallance Thomas (TJ); Elder Claduatte Mayes; Sis. Virginia Bailey; Sis. MaryDavis; Karen Reid, Terry Harper, and, Elder Gregory Roberts. Three especially close friends preceded her in death – Annie Lewis, Sis. Annie King, and Sis. Marion Thomas;
