Funeral Service: Thursday, Oct. 29, 20151:00 PMVilulah Baptist ChuchRev. Freddie Starling, PastorDaisy Lee Gilbert affectionately called “BigMom”, made her transition to glory on October 22, 2015. She was born on May 17, 1925 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the late Ms. Queen Foster Felder.   Daisy ”BigMom” Gilbert moved to Cuthbert, Georgia and met the love of her life Genie Curry Gilbert. They married in 1939 and from that union, they had 9 children. She was a very devoted wife and mother. She was a house wife that worked part time as a housekeeper when time allowed. She cherished her grandchildren and had special bonds with them.    She was a God fearing woman that truly loved the lord and her family. She also was a very faithful member of Vilula Missionary Baptist Church in Cuthbert, Georgia under the leadership of Reverend Freddie Starling, Pastor.    Daisy”BigMom” always spoke what was on her mind and held nothing back. She was blunt, outspoken and never mince words. She had a good sense of humor which at times was sarcastic and anyone that came in contact with her she made laugh. She loved to laugh! She was the Matriarch of the Gilbert’s Family and everyone loved her dearly!   She was predeceased by her Husband, Genie Curry Gilbert Sr, her daughters Daisy Bell Tucker and Brenda Gilbert, her sons, John Arthur Gilbert Sr and Willie James Gilbert and her brother Eddie Carter.   She is survived by her sons, Genie Curry Gilbert Jr (Brenda), Eddie Gilbert (Joan ), Clinton Gilbert and Roy Steven Gilbert, her daughter Katie Mae Taylor, her daughter-in-laws, Cheryl and Sharee, her sisters, Annie Laura Johnson, Ilonia Edwards, Ethel Weaver and Dorothy Scott (Albert), her brother-in-law Otha Gilbert and a host of grandchildren (3 generations), nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.   A special thank you to Ethel Mae Gilbert for all the love and care that you’ve shown and provided throughout the years. Bigmom loved you as her own child and wanted you to know how very much she appreciated all that you’ve done, as do the Gilbert Family!
