Bertha Mae Davis

August 29, 1930 — December 31, 2016

Ms. Bertha Mae Davis (Ms. Bert) daughter of the late Mrs. Sarah Wallace was born in Randolph County on August 29, 1930.   She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Virgil Chapel Baptist Church of Cuthbert, Georgia until her health failed her.    She attended Randolph County Public School System.  She started working at an early age in the dry cleaning industry and as a seamstress.  Due to her health issues, she retired from working at an early age.   Ms. Bert was loved and known for her love for the children and her neighborhood. She always strive to live her life according to the Proverb " treat others how you would like to be treated: she never allowed a person to leave her home hungry. Her doors was always opened. If how she lived her life can be summed  up, it's theses sayings "she tried to treat everybody right", "she tried always to make right decisions about others  whether one of her own or a stranger” and “she loved all children”. Yes, on the morning the Lord called her spirit to return unto Him; she could truly say “I ‘ain’t’ done anybody wrong”.   I thank the Lord for living all the days of my life in this present age. Now, I leave all of you, my children in the Lord’s Hands.      On Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her resident in Cuthbert, GA; God decided to call our beloved “Ma’dear” home. Prior to Him calling her home, she re-accepted God as her personal Lord and Savior.   Ms. Bert said my body is tired! I knew that one day I was going to have to leave this world, but I thank God for allowing me to spend 86 years on this earth. I heard my family prayers but up in heaven it was so peaceful. I didn’t feel any more pain nor had anymore worries; it was all over, so I asked God to let me stay. Family and friends wished me back, but God had other plans. I will miss all my family, friends, and anyone who has touched my life in a special way. All I ask is that you are happy for me, please don’t mourn too long because I’m up in heaven looking down at you. Though you can’t see or touch me, I will always be near and we shall meet again one day.   Preceding her in death is her mother Ms. Sarah Wallace; her brother Mr. Donnell Wallace; her son Mr. Charlie C. Davis Sr.; her granddaughter Ms. Shirley Ann Davis; her aunts Mrs. Willie B. Reese, Mrs. Leslie “Aunt Bee” Conway; along with a life-long friend Ms. Corine Grier.   Ms. Bert leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughters Mary Jane Davis (Robert) of Cuthbert, GA, Evangelist Sarah Ann (Jeffery) Henderson of Albany, GA, and Deborah Davis-Hill of Cuthbert, GA; her sons Larry Donnell Davis of Cuthbert, GA, Ronald Davis (Teresa) of Baltimore, MD, Alonzo (Jennifer) Davis of Eufaula, AL, and Johnny Davis of Albany, GA; her two sisters Mrs. Margret “Louise” (J.C.)
