Barbara Joyce Thompson

June 16, 1958 — October 17, 2025

Coleman, GA

Born June 16, 1958, to the late Odessa and Adell Roger Moore, Barbara’s life was a living testimony of love, strength, and service.

Barbara was raised on faith, family, and hard work. Over the years, she dedicated herself to caring for others through her work at Calhoun Nursing Home and Willow Wood Retirement Home, where she made every resident feel like family. Later, she became a Certified Hemodialysis Technician and Preceptor, serving faithfully for 28 years, mentoring and training new employees with patience, skill, and compassion. She returned to school, attending Sparks Technical College on June 9, 1994 — proving that it’s never too late to invest in yourself. Before her healthcare career, Barbara worked with pride for Carters and Ethika, Inc. Barbara was also a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Asbury Speight Vikings Class of 1977.

Barbara was joined in holy matrimony to the late Charles E. Thompson, and together they shared 16 precious years of love and laughter. From that union and throughout her life, she was blessed with a beautiful family who brought her endless joy and purpose.

On the morning of October 17, 2025, our beloved Barbara Joyce Thompson peacefully traded her earthly labor for eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory of her children: Marcus Moore, Anthony Clark (Santana), DeAmbra Thompson, Taffany Thompson, and Charles M. Thompson (Delayah). Her legacy continues through her precious grandchildren: Shaniya, Dantavious, Marshala, ZaKiya, TyKevious, NyQuavion, Jamarion, Jakevion, AnDravious, Canayah, TaLiyah, Demaurie, Kamire, Amina, and DeAaron “Levi.”

Her great-grands — Maison, Zailee, Jaxston, Madison, and Denver Bleu — brought a special sparkle to her later years.

Barbara’s siblings who remain to carry on her memory are Willie G. Moore, Lillian Moore (Norman), Eddie F. Moore, Roney Moore, Nelson Moore, Genetta Moore, Dorotheia Marlon (AJay), Theia Hardrick (Frank), Evelyn Timpson, and Robbie Moore. She was preceded in death by her brother Horace Lee Moore.

She also leaves behind a loving circle of two beloved aunts Agnes Thomas and Louella Jones, in-laws: Floyd M. Daniels (Vera), Beverly Wright, Ada D. Harvey (Jim), Burke Daniels (Ella), Anthony Daniels, and Craig Daniels (Janet) — along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved her dearly and two best friends, Clementine Lewis and Shirley Thomas, who stood by her side through thick and thin.

Now she rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior, reunited with loved ones gone before her, free from pain and full of peace. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she’s gone from labor to reward. Her work on earth is done, but her love will live on forever.
