On January 9, 2023 the Lord dispatched his angels to summon his servant Deacon Lester Lee Johnson home to eternal rest. Deacon Johnson was born April 3, 1937 to the parentage of Doc and Lula Mae Johnson in Carnegie, Georgia. Deacon Johnson was educated in the Randolph County School System. He began his life employment at an early age. He was dedicated, skilled, and hardworking. He retired from the Department of Transportation after thirty plus years of service. He wasn’t one to sit around and do nothing, therefore he continued employment at Parker Security as a Supervisor until his transition. Deacon Johnson was also a faithful Deacon and member of the New Mt. Cilla Non-Denominational Church in Carnegie, GA. He has been a member of this church since his youth. Deacon Johnson was the husband of the late Virginia Scott Johnson for twenty years. He was also preceded in death by his sister Betty Jean Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memories, his eight children, Vickie Johnson of Shellman, GA, Jerry (Veronica) Johnson of Statham, GA, Geraldine (Andrew) Robinson, Gwendolyn (Scottie) Mathis, Linda (Don) Timpson, and Henry (Elmira) Barbary of Coleman, GA, Melvin Johnson, Sr, a special nephew he reared as his own of Cartersville, GA; two sisters, Pastor Lula Brown of Edison, GA and Ester Bea Johnson of Austin, TX. Deacon Johnson was blessed to have five generations in his lifetime of eighty-five years which included nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Also to forever cherish his memory is his loving companion of sixteen years, Ms. Linda Brookins and bonus children, Chericka, Brandon and Antonio Brookins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
