God graved the presence of this earth with Deacon Willie C. Vickerson on June 28, 1930. He was born the sixth child of nine to the late Gus and Mittie Vickerson. He grew and accomplished many tasks until he finished his course. On May 11th while resting peacefully at his home, he was called to his heavenly home. Deacon Vickerson as he was so gracefully called was born in Shellman, GA and educated in the Randolph County School System. His journey in life led him to Atlanta, GA where he joined the United States Army. After completing his service he returned to Atlanta, GA and eventually worked for the State of Georgia. He entered into holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Bernice Render Vickerson on June 23, 1972. With this union came one stepson. To precede him in death are: his parents, his wife, three brothers, Sylvester, Lester and Johnny B; four sisters, Izola, Lonnie, Carne Bell and Gertha. Special honor to the Pastor Tracey Wheeler, Deacon Board, Usher Board and members of Greater Springfield Baptist Church. Deacon Vickerson was an active member of Greater Springfield Baptist Church. He was a member of the Deacon and Usher Board. He enjoyed all of the good food served at the church. He was a joy in other people lives and lived life to the fullest. We honor him today as being a man of purpose. He was very effective in his community.
