James Edward Hargrove was born May 31, 1941 in Cuthbert, Georgia. He was the fifth of seven children born to the late Jack Hargrove, Sr. and Louella Baker Hargrove. His younger sister, Dorothy Hargrove Jenkins, preceded him in death. He departed this life on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Wilson Hospice Center, Albany, Georgia. James was a graduate of Randolph County Training School, Cuthbert, Georgia. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, place of entry, Atlanta, Georgia for active duty. He was stationed for three years at the Fort Benning Installation, Fort Benning, Georgia, as a Private 3-1. His last duty assignment and command was with Troup C 4th Cavalry 34 U. S. Army. He received an Honorable Discharge February 19, 1964. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge number 70 of Cuthbert, Georgia. Surviving his departure with cherished memories include a devoted Companion and Wife of twenty-three years, Daisy Washington Hargrove, Cuthbert, Georgia; four Sisters, Martha (Dean) King, Atlanta, Georgia, Sherrilyn Hargrove, Columbus, Georgia, Mary Phillips, Atlanta, Georgia, Ruth Adams, Atlanta, Georgia; one Brother, Jack Hargrove, Jr.; one daughter, Daphne Daniels, Hartfort, Connecticut; one Grandson, Brandon Daniels, Hartfort, Connecticut. Two Sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Bragg) Brookins, Cuthbert, Georgia, Virginia (Herman), Lithonia, Georgia; three Brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Fillingame, Cuthbert, Georgia, John (Linda) Fillingame, Albany, Georgia, Johnny Washington, Cuthbert, Georgia. Four nephews, Leo Works, Columbus, Georgia, Paul Works, Columbus, Georgia, Andre Phillips, Atlanta, Georgia, Trey Brookins, Cuthbert, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
