A time to be born: Martha Lue Williams Jackson Jones, who was affectionately called “Martha Lou,” was born January 11, 1949, in Cuthbert, GA. She was the second child born to the late Willie Bud Williams and Olar Mae Daniels Williams. A time to die:Martha Lue was a fighter to the end. Her beautiful life ended Monday, May 27, 2019, when God called her home at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, GA. A time to be educated: Martha Lue graduated from Henderson High School in 1967 and later attended Albany Area Technical School in Albany, GA, earning her CNA license. A time for salvation:Martha Lue received Christ at an early age, joining Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Cuthbert, GA. She later joined Weaver Temple Church of God in Christ in 1979. Some years later, she moved her membership to Christ Temple Church of God in Christ. Martha Lou would also attend services with her sister and nephew at The New Greater Grace Church of God in Christ in Albany, GA, often. As her health declined, neither her faith in the Lord nor her worship wavered. Even when she was unable to attend church, Martha Lou would sing hymns while accompanying herself on the piano and study her Bible. Throughout her life, Martha Lou served faithfully in many different capacities: usher, hospitality, and church nurse, to name a few. A time to marry:Martha Lou married Willie Lee “Boot” Jackson, Sr. She later married Oscar Hood Jones, Sr. A time for employment:While living in Cleveland, OH, Martha Lou was employed with the Golden Age Nursing Home. After returning to Georgia, Martha Lou gained employment at Joe Anne Burgin Nursing Home, where she worked at as a CNA and desk clerk for 22 years. While in retirement, she worked several private duty jobs. No matter what physical state Martha Lou was in, she found herself busy. A time for retirement:After her retirement, Martha Lue never lost her love for cooking delicious soul food, playing the piano and singing gospel songs. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. A time to celebrate:She leaves a legacy of love to her husband, Oscar Hood Jones, Sr,; one daughter, Teresa Ann Jackson of Cuthbert, GA; two sons, Willie Jackson, Jr., of Cuthbert, GA, and James Mitchell (Josie) Jackson of Riverside County, CA; two sisters, Janice Gibson of Pickerington, OH, and Leeoma Bailey of Cuthbert, GA; two nieces, Belinda Victoria (Bradley) Burke of Pickerington, OH, and Tanya Marie (Trei) Dooley of Shawnee, KS; three nephews, Paul Bernard Bailey of Albany, GA, Thomas James Bailey, Jr., of Cuthbert, GA, and Bobby Christopher Bailey of Locust Grove, GA; two sisters-in-law, Margarett (Bill) Favor, of Albany, GA and Barbara “Kitty” Jones, of Thomasville, GA; and one brother-in-law, Pastor Bernard (Trina) Jones of Tampa, FL. She also leaves to cherish her memory: ten grandchildren, Sharrelle Jackson, Charmante “Kuan” Taylor, Asiana “Shay” Jackson, Hannah Jackson, Zachariah “Zack” Granger, Cameron Granger, Jasheen Jackson, Jamayiah Jackson, Rene Gomez, and Mariah Gomez; two great-grandchildren, Chase Hart and Zaiden Granger; one great-nephew, Bradley Malachi Burke; and three great-nieces, Brenna Burke, Taniya Gibson Dooley, and Tianna Gibson Dooley; one uncle, several aunts, cousins and friends.
