Mary Brown Fairbanks

February 18, 1944 — March 13, 2024

Mary Lee Brown Fairbanks was born February 18, 1944 in Cuthbert, Georgia to the late Deacon Lovette and Mrs. Ruby Turner Brown. She departed this life on, March 13, 2024 at Atrium Navicent, Pine Pointe Hospice, in Macon, Georgia.

At an early age she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Antioch
Missionary Baptist Church, Cuthbert, Georgia. She was an active member of Antioch
Baptish Church. Mary worked deligently in the Church as a Sunday School Teacher,
Sunday School Treasurer, Kitchen Committee, Program Committee, and the Church’s Recording Secretary, among other duties. She loved working for the Lord and with her Church family. During the time of her illness, when she received cards of love from her Church family read to her by her daughter, she would have a big smile and say, “That’s my Antioch!!”

Mary was educated in the public school system of Randolph County. Later, she
furthered her education at Fort Valley College (now Fort Valley State University) and
later Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia.

Mary was employed by the Miss Sturgis’s store where a cookie cost one cent! In 1972, she was hired by Randolph County School District as Paraprofessional. She enjoyed her job and loved working with children and they loved her! She retired from the School System in 2007 and later worked as a Bus Monitor.

Mary was a member of Order of Eastern Star Friendship Chapter #137. She served on the Point of Ruth, Assistant Conductress, Conductress and Assistant Matron. She has been a member of the Order of Eastern Star Friendship Chapter #137 for 39 years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Lovette Brown and Mrs. Ruby
Turner Brown and her baby sister, Gloria J. Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving daughter, Cheryl (Danny) Jones of Fort
Valley, Georgia, three loving and devoted grandchildren, Joshua D. Jones, Chelsea M. Jones and Jacob D. Jones of Fort Valley, Georgia; a sister, Annie R. Leary of Stone Mountain, Ga, a brother Joseph(Mary) Brown of Patterson, New Jersey; aunts; Ida Bouie of Lawrenceville, Ga, Doris McGhee of Lithonia, GA, Annie Wilson, Madison, Ill, Gladys Glasper, Dallas, Texas; 3 nephews, Joseph Gregory (Cami) Brown Jr., Lynhurst, New Jersey, Walter TaRoz (Kimiko) Leary, Antioch, Tennessee, Winslow Tyrone Leary, Stone Mountain, Georgia; 1 niece, Kimberly(Steven) Hinton, Bloomfield, New Jersey; 4 great nieces, Eniara Brown, Bloomfield, New Jersey, Jasmin Brown, Lyndhurst, New Jersery, Jabarria Brown, Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Isyreal Leary, Antioch, Tennessee; 2 great nephews; Joseph Justis Brown, III, Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Arrington Leary, Antioch, Tennessee. Loving care takers Queen Jackson, Karen Daniels and Janiss W. Leonard. A host of loving cousins and friends.
