Mother Irma Jewan Smith

Mother Irma Jean Smith, the daughter of the late Freddie Lee and Annie Will Jefferson, was born February 4, 1946 in Randolph County. Irma was educated within the Randolph County School System. She accepted Christ as the head of her life. She joined Vilulah Baptist Church of Cuthbert, Georgia. Later she joined the Faith Temple Church of Cuthbert, Georgia under the leadership of Bishop Gwendolyn Mallard. She was employed over twenty -five years at the military base in Fort Benning, GA as a dietician. Later she was employed with the Calhoun State Prison over five years until her retirement. Irma was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Joe Smith, Sr. for twenty years. To this union they were blessed with one son. On Friday, April 9, 2021 at Joe Anne Burgin Nursing Home, Irma departed her earthly life, she went to her eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Sammie Lee Jefferson, and one sister, Freddie Mae Johnson. A legacy of love and devotion will always remain with her family to include her son, Willie Joe Smith, Jr. and daughter -in-law, Sharon Smith; two grandchildren, Keasha and Tyrone; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Nazir, and Kalanna of Cuthbert, GA; one sister, Sally Jefferson Fuller of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Carrie Smith, Bertha Mae Smith and Earlene Smith, all of Fort Gaines, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
