Tommie Lee Thomas

August 9, 1943 — July 5, 2024

Cuthbert

A TIME TO BE BORN: Tommie Jean Lee Thomas was born August 9, 1943, in Carnegie, Georgia to the late Rollie and Laura Davis Lee. She shared a nurturing family life with her four sisters who have preceded her in death, Mamie Green, Bertha Mitchell, Mary Edwards, Melva Richardson (Twin).

A TIME TO PLANT: Professing faith and accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, she became a member of the Mt. Cilla AME church at an early age. Later in her life, she became a member of the Payne Chapel AME Church after her family relocated to Cuthbert, GA.

A TIME TO LOVE: After graduating high school in 1961 from the Randolph County Training School, she met and married Lester Thomas, Sr. in 1962. To this union, four children were born.

A TIME TO HARVEST: Tommie served as a cook at Patterson Hospital for a few years before joining the Randolph County School System as a cook and manager where she retired in 2005 after 36 years of service. Tommie passionately served alongside her church family members in various ministries including the choir, hospitality, Sunday School, and the Missionary Society until her health failed. During her retirement years, Tommie enjoyed many activities and hobbies. Tommie loved traveling with her children and family gatherings during holidays. Even though her children were adults, she continued to enjoy taking care of them as well as her grandchildren. She did not miss a day of watching her favorite game shows like Family Feud and daytime shows like Judge Mathis and Judge Judy. She always stayed on top of current events, and on Saturdays, she had to watch her infamous Georgia Bulldogs play their football games.

She leaves a TIME TO WEEP, A TIME TO LAUGH and a TIME TO MOURN the legacy of her SEASON: three daughters, Gwendolyn Thomas of Atlanta, GA, Rev. Stephanie Walton (Jesse) of Albany, GA, and Sommier Thomas of Albany, GA; one son, Lester Thomas, Jr. (Katara) of Concord, NC; four grandsons, Rashad Thomas, Sr. of Albany, GA, Jared Walton of Cuthbert, GA, Isaiah and Logan Thomas of Concord, NC; one granddaughter, Kayelyn Thomas of Concord, NC; three great granddaughters, Rashara Threats of Ellaville, GA and Savannah and Breanna Walton of Cuthbert, GA; one great grandson, Rashad Thomas, Jr. of Cuthbert, GA; one sister - n -law, Mary Jenkins of College Park, GA.

She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tommie intimately loved the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She answered the call and transitioned to eternal rest and peace on Friday, July 5, 2024.
