Willie George Johnson “Willie” was born in Alco, Tennessee on February 16, 1956. He was the last of eight children born to the union of the late Johnny (Pop) Johnson and Mary Lizzie Thomas. Surrounded by his family, Willie departed this life on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Charleston Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. Willie attended schools in Cuthbert, Georgia and Waterbury, Connecticut. He worked for the Salvation Army and Copely Wrecker Service. Willie enjoyed remodeling, landscaping and grilling out with family and friends. Residing in Charleston much of his adult life, Willie attended church there. When in Georgia, however, he attended Zion Baptist Church. Besides his parents, Willie is preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Riddick, Mary Jane Owens, and Deloris Reid. Willie leaves to cherish his memory two children: Keywanda Johnson of Jacksonville, FL and Mantrell Cooper of Columbus, GA; two stepchildren: Natalie and Melissa Casdorph of Charleston, WV; four brothers, Lycell (Beulah) Johnson and Joseph Faulker, both of Waterbury, CT, Harry (Debra) Johnson of Cuthbert, GA, Weldon (Renee) Johnson of Charleston, WV and Jeffery (Everlyn) Faulker of Bellmead, TX; four sisters, Ethel Perryman of Louisville, KY, Johnnie Davis of Columbus, GA, Debra Johnson and Carla (Tommy) Parkman of Charleston WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
